One of my favorite quotes is by none other than Mahatma Gandhi who had said: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

In 1985, my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The cancer was pretty bad because she suffered through a lot of pain before getting it checked out because the awareness level at that time was fairly low, unlike today when Breast Cancer is a household term. Yet even with the current state of awareness about Breast Cancer, many of us know what we need to do, but we do not do it. I know I should get a mammogram, and I know that I am at risk, especially because my mother had it, and I know I am in the age bracket that puts me at a higher risk, yet I have not gotten my mammogram!

In the last couple years, Breast Cancer has touched the lives of 4 people around me. Two were hit very badly. It seems such a shame that cancer can hit at any time, and we have tools to detect it’s presence early, yet not everyone utilizes those tools. The pink ribbon campaign is a genius one because it is a simple gesture to serve as a reminder to get checked. I have cut about 150 ribbons that I want to share with anyone interested in sharing the message. I will mail a pink ribbon with a message to get checked to anyone you want. All I ask is that you pay for the stamp, envelope and the 33 cents Paypal charges for accepting a transaction. Help me get the word out to women around the world and as a whole, let us come together to beat this thing!
